Shooting and Aiming

For John, BLUFRegarding the Benghazi attack, Romney was right from the get-go.  Nothing to see here; just move along.

Erika Johnsen, over at Hot Air, talks about the evolving story regarding the events of 11 September 2012.  The article title is "Tapper to WH on Benghazi: So, wouldn’t it be President Obama who shot first and aimed later?".  That would be ABC Senior White House Correspondent Jake Tapper.

The title is a reference to the accusation that Governor Romney spoke too quickly about the events in Egypt and Libya.

I believe Governor Romney hit the target in his statement, and he hit the target because he instinctively stood up for American principles, like Free Speech, and for the integrity of our Diplomatic Missions.

[Insert pro forma comment about how the real issue, lost in the noise, is First Amendment Rights]

[Insert pro forma comment about how Administrations tend to hang their UN Ambassadors out to dry and I will want to see more before I condemn Ms Susan Rice for her early statements]

UPDATE:  I'm sorry, here is the view of Rep Debbie Wasserman Schultz (DNC Chair)—just because it was wrong desn't mean it was false.  Interviewer Piers Morgan was having trouble with that concept and when CNN is having trouble, so are others.

Help me out, Cliff. There was az court stenographer present for the entire episode and POTUS, et al have been willfully trying to obstificate, so as to ...?

Let's try, as we thrust the kangaroo court of public opinion, to stay somewhere near what an actual court does.

It's the nature of the politcal beast that the Press pushes for answers, as our leaders gather info. We are still in the discovery period, are we not?

I'm thinking, if Dick Cheney was calling the shots, we wouldn't know squat about what happened in Benghazi. Yet, you are ready to use transparency as a cudgel?

Damned, if you do. Damned, if you don't. Obama is going with the "if you do" method.

Bash away.

Waiting this one out... was there a good reason 'to lie'.

"Just because it was wrong doesn't mean it was false." I wonder if DSW would offer the same insight about the Bush admin's claims about WMD's in Iraq.

Actually, I think I am being restrained.  Note that I am defending Amb Rice from charges she is prevaricating.

My point isn't that the Administration is fibbing but that the Administration, by following the Innocence of Muslims meme is heading down the wrong intellectual path.  We will get a bad outcome in our relationships with nations across the MENA.

First reports are wrong.  That is a given.  Just as the initial condemnation of Romney's comments were wrong.  Romney lucked into what I see as the correct answer, by following his instincts.  For sure State cannot get out a satisfactory report in less than a month.

Re DWS, no.  I think she is more along the lines of 500 Days:  Secrets and Lies in the Terror Wars, by Kurt Eichenwald.  No, I have just read the reviews.
