Key Election Today

I know we all think our November Presidential Election will be the most important this year, but that may not be the case.  Results for the Mexican Presidential Election are due early Monday.  From a knowledgeable friend there is this analysis:
This election could have a real effect on events in Mexico.   When the PRI was last in power they avoided the violence that has plagued Mexico in recent years by, some say, reaching an agreement with cartels.   It may be difficult to replay, but the PRI might well seek accords to bring some semblance of peace to a tired country.   Honduras is not far behind, nor is Guatemala.   Resources that would otherwise go to social programs and development are moved to the police and armed forces, business and investment suffers, and there is no end in sight.   This is one to watch, and I am certain there will be no shortage of accusations of fraud.

So far there have been no problems.   The entire Congress and 6 state governors are also up for election.
There should be no doubt in any American's mind that our drug problems are leading to increased violence in Mexico and that it is seeping across our Southern Border.  This election has serious consequences for us.
