Over at The Boston Herald is an article about Lawyer Harvey Silvergate saying that creating a central database of scanned license plates (with times and locations) is putting "too much information" in the hand of a government agency. See, there is a reason to support the ACLU, notwithstanding the stupid calls it sometimes makes.
Look at the Bill of Rights. Is it not about the fear our forefathers had for the power of Government and prosecutors in particular?

While I would agree with your position, I would suggest that the concern by the lawyer and the lamestream media is tardy by decades. At NSA alone, it is very likely that every telephone call or email made by American citizens is duly recorded and "archived" for ongoing analysis. Then of course we have the FBI, the CIA, the DIA, and who knows what tiny little investigative cell we know nothing about (for instance...the little known and even littler publicized State Department Intel agency who spy on everyone...all in the name of "national security" of course.
The ACLU is vastly under-appreciated, and especially by the right.
