Bernadette Fletcher, RIP

It seems that Bernadette Fletcher passed away in Berkeley, California, on 27 January 2009, at the age of 91.

I knew Bernadette from my time at the Immaculate Conception Parish, where she attended Mass and was part of our Bible Study.

Bernadette was born in Lowell, on April 26, 1917, the daughter of the late Charles and Margaret (Kelly) Hurley. She attended St. Michael's Elementary School and was a graduate of Lowell High School.

I always found Mrs. Fletcher to be serious about her faith and about taking it and making it real. She was involved in helping people others. One of the things I found most interesting was that later in life she served as an administrative assistant and companion to the Christian writer, Hannah Hurnard.

Her Funeral Mass will be offered on Wednesday, February 4th at 1000 (10 AM), at St. Michael's Church, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Tewksbury. Relatives and friends may call at the Mahoney Funeral Home, 187 Nesmith St. (Rte. 38), from 0830 to 0930 on Wednesday.

The full obituary is on the Mahoney web site available here.

A hat tip to my friend Jerome for this information.

Regards  --  Cliff
